Spring Activity in Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa Real Estate Always Very Active in Spring

Ah, spring in Costa Mesa, the time when everything comes to life! It’s really remarkable how our market really gets chugging along this time every year. It reminds me of a funny quote from one of my favorite comedians – Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s party!” ~Robin Williams

Like the market, I’ve been really active. My clients just won a bidding war over on Mackenzie Place, I put my listing at 1863 Pitcairn Drive in the Mesa Verde area into escrow, and I have 2 new listings about to hit the market in the Halecrest neighborhood!

I’m not sure why the Costa Mesa real estate market kicks into high gear this time of year – perhaps it’s our natural biorhythms, or people coming off the winter and are ready to go look for homes. Who knows? But it is certainly the time of year I would tell a client to put their home on the Costa Mesa real estate market above all other times of the year.

Just a quick look at the new listings on the market since March 21st says that we have 65 new listings on the market! THAT’S a Lot! Especially considering that we only have a total of 229 Active listings for sale. That is something like 28% of the available inventory (not in escrow) was new in the last 25 days.

What do you account for all of that activity? I’d love to hear someone else’s take on it? Low interest rates? A few less Costa Mesa short sales on the market and more normal, standard sales? Less REO listings to deal with? I dunno, but I do love the spring activity and the tidal wave of listings that take us into the summer months of Costa Mesa real estate.
