If you read one of my last posts, I told you a story of how my clients were wronged by another agent in the process of trying to buy a short sale. And while I was complaining about that event, I titled the post, “Hey Karma You Owe me One.”
I guess I should have been more specific and said you owe them one. Cause Karma came my way last week.
Golf anyone?
I don’t golf a lot, although I used to. I used to be around an 8 handicap, which I was always good with when I played a lot. If you know golf, then you know how absolutely frustrating it can be not only to hit the ball well, but to actually get the ball to go into the hole can be the toughest task on a given day.
Last week I got an invite to play with a friend at the Mesa Verde County Club, which incidentally is an amazing place if you have not been there. In fact, I was playing with another Realtor from South County and he couldn’t believe what a hidden gem MVCC is for the area. Anyway, it was a treat to be out there, I usually go out to play there once or twice a year.
Thanks Karma
The last time I played the course I sliced my first drive so far to the right I actually wound up in the 2nd fairway, and while it was on the short grass, there were a lot of chuckles from the gallery, and some outright concern from the guys playing behind me who thought they would be having the longest country club round of their lives. Ooops. This time, the start went a lot better. On the same first hole, a par 5, I hit my drive right down the center which was a huge relief. I left myself with about 196 yards, which is not an easy shot for me. All I was thinking was go ahead and get it somewhere near the green, and whatever you do keep it out of those two sand bunkers.
Ball, meet hole
I pulled out my four iron, lined it up, and swung. I looked up after the “click” of the ball, and my shot was headed at the right side of the green. Please, please, please stay on that line was all I could think. The ball drew ever so slightly toward the center of the green, and landed just in front of the green, took a hop, then started rolling. At the hole. No way, no way, no way that will go in. If you golf a lot, you know that ball will hit the pin, bounce out, or just stop near the hole. They never go in. Guess what? Hello Karma. The ball went in.
Unbelievable! The guys in my group were freaking out. High-fives all around. The member had never seen an albatross ( a 2 on a par 5) on that hole, although I am sure someone has done it there before.
That feeling is amazing. You don’t ever think perfection can happen like that. I will take it. It sure doesn’t come often on the golf course. It came just a couple days after doing that last post of mine, so while some good Karma came my way, I had really intended for it to go my clients way.
I guess I need to keep doing the right thing, and give it back. Felt too good to have it come my way like that. Thanks Karma.
