Wimbledon Village in Costa Mesa is a planned community of homes that were built in 1979 and 1981. It was one of the larger planned communities built in Costa Mesa at that time. It was also the last largest community built in Costa Mesa, with over 160 homes.
Wimbledon Village has one of the best themes. Obviously, who doesn’t like the allure of the Wimbledon Tennis event? Tennis anyone? Wimbledon Village was built with an tudor and english cottage style esthetic. Look at some of the photos in our slider. You can see the cottage style shingles and some of the old clad tudor style homes.
Wimbledon Village
The homes range in size from 1594 square feet up to about 2594 square feet. Owners have over time added square footage in some homes, with the largest I have seen at about 2800 square feet. The smallest home size is a single story 2 bedroom which is on the lower square footage (1594). There are 3 bedroom homes which have between 1600 and 1750+/- square footage for them, and they are single story models as well.
The larger homes are two story homes with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Most of the larger home floorpans have at least 2248 square feet and go up to 2594 square feet.
These homes were built with very nice floor plans. Most of the homes feature open floor plans and some even have high vaulted ceilings. The Jack and Jill bathroom became en vogue during this era, and some of the two story homes feature that bathroom upstairs. The master bedrooms feature high ceilings and larger sized bedrooms.
Since the homes were built in ’79 and ’81, some of the homes will still have some of the original flair to them. Lots of the homes will have been updated to today’s tastes.
The Wimbledon Village has a lot of great things going for it. The location is supreme. Sitting in the South Coast Metro area, the location is just off of South Coast Drive, and runs along Fairview up to Sunflower Ave. So you literally walkable to South Coast Plaza and Metro Pointe. You will have amazing freeway access to the 405 and 73 freeways, and the 55 freeway is just 2 minutes away.
The community itself does have an HOA. The HOA fees as of this time (2015) are about $130 monthly. What do you get for that fee? A wonderful community. There are tennis courts (or course, it is Wimbledon Village, right?), basketball courts, a sport court, a large park in the center of the community. There is also a swimming pool and spa, and there is a community center which can cater to your parties and events.
If homes are available in Wimbledon Village, they will be listed below. If you see a little red box there are no homes for sale there currently.
