Community The Bungalows at Elden
The community of the Bungalows at Elden were built in 2006 in Costa Mesa with the idea that affordable housing could be available to those who really wanted to live in East Side Costa Mesa at a price that was significantly less than the going rate for a comparable townhouse.
Unit A at the Bungalows at Elden
In Costa Mesa, there is an upside-down ratio of renters and homeowners. As of today, about 60% rent and 40% own, percentages that are generally flip-flopped in similar-sized cities, so the developer of the project hoped that creating this affordable housing would benefit those looking for a moderately priced home as well as giving back to the city and area that he grew up in.

The Bungalows are 7 individual townhouse style condos located on one long lot at 2550 Elden Ave in East Side Costa Mesa. The project is labeled with unique addresses with letters on each one, lettered A through G, with the A unit being closest to the street frontage on Elden and townhome G being at the back of the lot/property. Five of the interior homes are all similar in size at about 900 square feet, and all were built with a downstairs family room, dining area and good sized kitchen, typical for what you would find in Eastside Costa Mesa condos for the size of the unit. The upstairs of the condos feature one bathroom that is flanked by two good sized bedrooms.
Two of the units at the Bungalows at Elden are unique in their floor plans. The unit at the back of the property, unit G, is a large townhouse of approximately 1200 square feet. It also has a very large downstairs and dining area as well as an impressive kitchen. The upstairs also has two bedrooms, and this unit has two bathrooms. The Master bedroom in this unit is really exceptional – it is absolutely huge in size and looks over the back yard of the unit. This is the only unit of all the Bungalows that has a large expansive yard; the other interior ones feature a good sized patio, also typical for the price point in Costa Mesa.
Living Room at the Bungalows with open floor plan
The unit that really stands apart from the others is the one in the front of the complex, unit A. It is built as a true 1920’s style bungalow with a front porch, rear patio, and an impressively open floor plan. It is built in a craftsman style as are all of the Bungalows at Elden. The craftsman sytle is one that is not found that often in Costa Mesa real estate, but really fits well into the feel of our beach community.
Most of the photos speak to the quality of the development of this beautiful complex on East Side Costa Mesa. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post here or drop us a line at my email.
